When I first wrote that title, I subconsciously
used the word “process” in place of “progress”—“Your
Business As A Work In Process.” Both are true. As we
develop our business, we continually have the opportunity to
redefine it. Who is my target audience? What services or products
am I offering? What can I add to attract more clients? How
have the needs of my ideal client changed? What can I create
that will be automated and bring me income while I sleep? And
even more importantly, how have my values changed?
I have just made giant headway in a series of short “how
to” articles for my new High Intention Achievement
Library. It is designed to guide my clients one decision
at a time into a strong and profitable Internet presence.
As I wrote these instructions, I examined my own site and
found places that I stopped to strengthen. Always question
what you have done. Question what you have written. See if
you can’t make it stronger, clearer, more appealing.
Don’t hesitate to change your web copy. Don’t
hesitate to change your pricing, or your bundling or your
service. Keep an ever-vigilant eye on what other people are
doing. Add to your swipe file. Save the articles that give
you guidance on the things you may not yet have in place.
I’ve yet to do Google ad words but I have seen a Camtasia
presentation on how to do it, read a book chapter on how
to do it and have made notes on how to do it. When I’m
ready to do it, I’ll have the information I need.
There is a lot of free information available. Subscribe to
the e-magazines of those whose marketing style you like, those
who offer guidance on Internet copywriting, and those who offer
advice on building and converting web traffic. In my resource
section on my computer, I have a folder called “Subscriptions.” In
it each source has a folder under which I place the e-magazines
and articles that I resonate with. When I’m ready, I
have a goldmine of information.
I also keep a Phrase File. It is a document with phrases in
it that I like. One time I went through an entire catalog called
Isabella and pulled out phrase after phrase of metaphysical
descriptions of Source Energy because the copy resonated so
deeply with me. Some of those phrases ended up in my e-books,
my articles and on my web page. Keep a Phrase File. Keep a
Title file as you think of titles for e-books and articles.
Keep a resource file on software and equipment that others
recommend. I now have a very strong article on Audio Recommendations
in my High Intention Achievement Library.
Don’t be afraid to change what you have already done.
It was a major decision for me to divide my business into two
aspects and to market them separately as a portal page on my
web site. That shift in focus freed everything up to be exactly
who/what they were meant to be. Let go of your current position.
Vision, rethink, do a mind map, let yourself be open to the
possibilities. Then create and adjust. And create and adjust
again.
Keep your business fresh, vibrant and in line with who you
have become. Keep your business a creative work in progress.
